Database Management System

Data base management systems are applications software developed for managing large amount of data on a computer. In general, these tools allow us to store data by putting them into tables. Each table consists of horizontal and vertical entries of data. A horizontal entry of a data is called a record. Similarly, a vertical entries of data are called fields. In other words, a record consists of many fields Fields of a given record are related some manner. For example, a record may have related information such as name, surname, address, profession, etc. of an individual.

Note that how to design database tables with relating information is very challenging job. This field is know as system analysis and design. Once the design is done, DBMS allows us to enter data accordingly. However, facilities provided by a DBMS is more than entering data.
